Moong Dal Recipe- How To Make Pasi Paruppu Sambar
Moong Dal recipe is one of the simple and famous homemade tiffin sambars in South India, especially in Tamil Nadu. There are numbers of varieties and preparation method that are there to build up this tangy good.
Here I shared one of them and this is the superb combination for idly, Pongal, dosa, and vada. we usually use moong dal for Tiffin sambar but you can use any dal to prepare this but this the best choice.
Here we go!
Ingredients of Moong Dal Recipe
Moong Dal/split yellow-green gram dal -100 grams
Chana dal-2 tablespoon
Tomato-2-3
Onion-1 chopped
Green Chilly 2
Red chilly 2
Fennel seeds-1/4 tablespoon
Turmeric powder a pinch
Hing/Asafoetida-a pinch
Water & Salt -as needed
Oil - 1-2 tablespoon
Mustard seeds -1/4 tablespoon
Curry leaves
Coriander leaves
Steps for Moong Dal Recipe
Step 1
Soak the moong dal and chana dal about 10-15 Minutes before to start.
Step 2
Boil moong and chana dal along with one roughly chopped tomato, green chilly and garlic. Wait until it lands a smooth boil. Grind it well and keep it ready. (For cooker- (3-4) Whistles)
Step 3
Heat oil with a medium flame once hot add mustard seeds, when it splits add fennel seeds, red chilly and curry leaves.
Step 4
When it creates pleasing aroma, add onion with a pinch of salt and turmeric powder, fry until it turns into a transparent.
Step 5
Add remaining chopped tomato, stay to fry until it develops mushy.
Step 6
Add mashed dal along with appropriate water, salt and a pinch of Hing.
Step 7
Allow the fuse to boil with the medium flame for 5-7 minutes. Finally, garnish with coriander leaves.
Your south Indian style simple and yummy moong dal/Pasi Paruppu sambar is ready to serve.
