Strawberry crush, aka strawberry pulp, is an easy fruit base syrup recipe. These fruit pulps are readily available in your nearest supermarket. However, if you make them at home, it will cost less. In addition, you will get preservative-free natural fruit pulp or fruit syrup.
We all know that fruit base syrups, pulps or crush has additives, artificial food colour & preservatives. Therefore, they might not be suitable for certain people. That’s the reason I am sharing an easy homemade strawberry crush recipe.
As usual, we will start with the ingredient list and then the making process.
Strawberry Crush Ingredients
This is so far the easiest recipe having only two ingredients. Yes, you need only two things to make your strawberry crush at home.
Red strawberry fruit is what we need here. Use fresh and juicy fruits because we are making a liquid crush. Before using the fruit, wash & clean them. Since
One more thing, strawberry is a seasonal fruit. Therefore stock them when they are available to use later on.
Use ordinary granulated sugar from your kitchen. Using powdered sugar will also do. On top of it, using thick sugar syrup is a far better idea. In India, we call it chasni.
Why sugar syrup is a better option?
Sugar syrup is always a better option compared to sugar granules or powdered sugar. To make sugar syrup, you need to melt sugar using water and heat it.
While boiling the sugar, it leaves impurities. You can see white foam on the inside edge of the vessel. What needs to be done is cool down the syrup, use a strainer to strain the impurity.
Doing this will give you sweet syrup without any impurities. Moreover, the syrup, after straining it, will look crystal clear.
On the other hand, when we add granulated or powdered sugar directly, the impurities get dissolved. Hence, sugar syrup is advisable instead of granulated or powdered sugar.
Okay, now let’s move on to the making process.
Making Strawberry Crush at Home
The recipe is simple, and the making process is simplest. Read below.
Remove the leaves and cut each strawberry into four pieces vertically. Now make two batches of the cut fruit. In other words, take out 1/2 of the cut strawberry to make the puree. Keep aside the remaining half.
Take a deep vessel, add cut strawberries, sugar & raise the flames to be high. Allow the sugar to melt. Remember that we don’t have to caramelise the sugar. Heat till the sugar completely dissolves and not more than that.
After the sugar melts, add the strawberry puree. This way, you will get the desired thick & sticky texture. Make sure you do not overboil the mixture. Just simmer for a couple of minutes and then remove it from the gas.
Cool down the mixture and store it in a glass jar. Avoid plastic container. Use plastic container only if it is food grade. Your homemade strawberry crush is ready.
