How to Make Dalgona Coffee

The internet is trending with Dalgona coffee all over during the recent pandemic. Many celebrities have put videos on social platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.

Dalgona Coffee is a beverage that is made with whisking coffee, sugar and hot water in equal proportions. Then a layer of this caramel-like coffee is added after with milk.

This is originally from the streets of Korea. It is a light and fluffy toffee/candy with a nutty and bit bitter taste is, which is called “PPopgi”. It literally translates to Dalgona. Baking Soda is added to make the toffee fluffy in texture.

All the ingredients are whisked to get a creamy texture. Therefore, dalgona coffee is also known as Beaten Coffee. Or you can also call it as a three-ingredient coffee or whisked coffee.

You can make different versions of this coffee with slight changes. Without the ice cubes, you have your classic dalgona coffee. If you use ice cubes then you will get ice cuppa. Add one more spoon of coffee powder and it will be a dalgona mocha. Put a little amount of milk and there you get your espresso macchiato.

It is one of the best forms of coffee you can get. This beverage is presented with sprinkled coffee powder or crushed brownies. People usually enjoy it with banana bread, cookies, muffins or cake.

Ingredients of Dalgona Coffee

  • Instant Coffee - 2 tbsp
  • Sugar - 2 tbsp
  • Hot Water - 2 tbsp
  • Milk - 170 ml
  • Ice Cubes

Steps for Dalgona Coffee

  • Take a bowl and drop instant coffee in it.
  • Add sugar and hot water in it.
  • Whisk the mixture now until you get a texture like a cream. You can either use a whisker or electric beater. Electric beater will be quicker.
  • Take a glass and drop the ice cubes in it.
  • Pour the milk in the glass over it.
  • Take a big spoonful of the coffee and drop it on the milk on top.
  • Give the coffee a little stir and it is ready to drink.
