Stuffed Onion Easy Recipe

Stuffed Onion is a simple and delicious Gujarati recipe.  The onions are slit and are to be stuffed with spicy groundnut mixture before cooking.

Ingredients of Stuffed Onion

  • Mixture for stuffing
  • Edible Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Grounded Peanut - 1 small bowl
  • Coconut Powder - 1 tbsp
  • Red Chili Powder - 1 tbsp
  • Cumin- Coriander powder - 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric Powder - 1 tbsp
  • Garam Masala - 1 tbsp
  • Salt - to taste
  • Ginger-Garlic paste - 1/2 tbsp
  • Kasuri Methi - 1 tbsp
  • Chopped coriander - 1 1/2 tbsp
  • Curd - 2 tbsp
  • Onion - 11 pcs medium size
  • For Frying
  • Edible Oil - 75 ml
  • Cumin - 1 tbsp
  • Curry Leaves - 1 tsp
  • Curd - 1 medium size bowl
  • Chopped Coriander - 2 tbsp
  • Sev - 3 tbsp

Steps for Stuffed Onion

  • Mixture for Stuffing
  • Add oil in a bowl.Add peanut powder, coconut powder, red chili powder,cumin-coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala, salt,  ginger-garlic paste, Kasuri methi, chopped coriander, and curd. Mix everything well.
  • Now fill the onion with masala
  • For Frying
  • Take a pan and heat oil.Add cumin and then curry leaves. Fry it.
  • Now put stuffed onion one by one in it. Shallow fry it on low flames.Do not stir it vigorously. fry onions upside down too.
  • Now add curd in the pan.
  • Sprinkle chopped coriander and sev over the stuffed onion.
  • Keep it on the heat for a few seconds. Serve hot.
