Paneer Bhurji | Scrambled Cottage Cheese

Paneer Bhurji is a delicious North Indian recipe. It consists of grated paneer and is spicy.

Paneer is the most consumed food ingredient for vegetarians. And hence you are going to find numerous recipes consisting of this.

The dish is quick to make and is less fussy. Usually, North Indian people eat this for breakfast.

This recipe is quite similar to scrambled eggs, as the primary process here is scrambled as well.

It is a delicious, filling, and nutritious recipe. However, it is not a vegan recipe. If you are a vegan, then you can use tofu or soya paneer. It will also enhance the protein value in it. You can also chop the tomatoes and saute them instead of making a puree.

Paneer Bhurji is a sort of homemade comfort food. We can eat it with roti, chapati, naan, paratha, pav, bread, as the main dish. Or we can eat as wrap or paneer roll. North Indians even use this in sandwiches, Kathi rolls, or bread rolls.

Ingredients of Paneer Bhurji

  • Paneer - 200 gm
  • Ghee - 2 tbsp
  • Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
  • Garlic - 4-5 pcs (Chopped)
  • Ginger - 1 tbsp
  • Kasuri Methi - 1 tbsp
  • Onion - 2 pcs (Medium Size) (Chopped)
  • Capsicum - 1/2 pcs (Chopped)
  • Red Chili Powder - 1 tbsp
  • Coriander Powder - 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
  • Salt - 1 tbsp
  • Coriander - 2 tbsp (Chopped)
  • Garam Masala - 1/2 tbsp
  • Tomato Puree - 2 pcs tomato (Medium Size)
  • Milk Cream - 1 tbsp
  • Butter - 1 tbsp

Steps for Paneer Bhurji

  • In a bowl, grate the paneer.
  • Heat a pan and add ghee to it. Add cumin seeds and stir it. Then add garlic, ginger, and methi into it. Stir once again.
  • Now add onion and cook it till it turns translucent. Then add capsicum, stir and cook it for some time.
  • After that, add red chili powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt, coriander, and garam masala. Mix everything.
  • Then add tomato puree to it. Mix it and cover it with a lid. Cook for 5 minutes.
  • Now add milk cream and stir. Also, add the grated paneer. And mix it. Then add butter and again cover with a lid. Let it cook for 10 minutes.
  • Paneer Bhurji is ready. Serve it with chapati and enjoy.
