How To Prepare Pidi Kozhukattai-Pidi Kozhukattai Recipe

Pidi Kozhukattai Recipe is a traditional Indian style sweet recipe prepare during the Ganesh Chaturthi festival. Ganesh Chaturthi is the biggest festival of India where Hindu god Ganesha is applauded by kids and adults.

Ganesha is a famous Indian Hindu God whose face is Elephant face and body is the human body. And he is famous for kids. He loves sweets so much just like kids love therefore I decided to make some sweets.

Ingredients of Pidi Kozhukattai Recipe

  • Rice Flour - 1 Cup (Wet raw)
  • Jaggery - 1/2 Cup (Grated)
  • Moong Dal - 2-3 tsp
  • Coconut - 1-2 tbsp (Grated)
  • Ghee - 3-4 tbsp
  • Water - as needed

Steps for Pidi Kozhukattai Recipe

  • Wash and Soak the rice about 10-15 minutes then filter the water and keep it until the water dries up.
  • Once it has done, grind the flour until it becomes soft. Heat the pan with a medium flame and fry the rice flour for few seconds and keep it aside. (Don't over fry)
  • Meanwhile, boil 1 cup of water and add jaggery. Continue to simmer until jaggery melts completely. Once it has done filter the jaggery juice and keep it aside.
  • Heat ghee with a medium flame, once hot add moong dal, coconut, and fry until it turns the color.
  • Then add rice flour and fry a few seconds then add jaggery juice and mix thoroughly. (It should be dough state)
  • Allow the mixture to cool then take a small ball, just press with your hands and it will come in unshaped cylinder form. Once you did the whole flour boil it in the idly cooker for 5-7 minutes. That's it. Your colorful Pidi Kozhukattai is ready to serve.
