Paneer Handi – 5 Minute Paneer Recipe

Paneer Handi Masala is a deliciously rich, mouth-watering recipe of Indian cuisine. The recipe is made with the puree of cashew nuts, onions, and tomatoes as a base.

Paneer handi Masala is an easy recipe. However, you can give your twist to the recipe too. For example, you can add milk powder or cream to make the gravy more rich and thick.  It will create a restaurant-like experience for you.

Handi is a pot that people use for Indian cooking that is wide at the bottom and a bit deep. But you can cook it in a pan or a wok if you don’t have a handi. Interestingly, the name of the paneer recipe changes with changing the vessel you cook it in.

You can eat this dish at both lunch and dinner as well. It is a versatile dish that we can enjoy with tandoori roti, naan, paratha, or cumin rice or basmati.

Tips For Paneer Handi:

  • Use Kashmiri red chilli powder or edible red colour to get an eye-catching red colour.
  • You can add a little bit of gram flour as well to thicken the gravy. Cook it properly to eliminate the rawness.
  • If you like, add cream to make it richer. Or you can add a bit of curd as well. Keep a check on the water, then.

Ingredients of Paneer Handi

  • For Puree
  • Edible Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Garlic Whole - 15 pcs
  • Ginger - 5 to 6 small pcs
  • Cashew Nuts - 10 pcs
  • Onion - half piece (Chopped)
  • Tomato - 2 pcs (Chopped)
  • For Gravy
  • Edible Oil - 3 tbsp
  • Paneer - 100 gm
  • Kasuri Methi -1 tbsp
  • Onion - 2 pcs small size
  • Capsicum - 1 pcs small size
  • Coriander-Cumin Powder - 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric Powder - 1 tbsp
  • Red Chili Powder - 1 tbsp
  • Garam Masala Powder -1 tbsp
  • Salt - as required
  • Water - 1/2 glass
  • Lemon Juice - 1 tbsp
  • Chopped Coriander - 1 tbsp

Steps for Paneer Handi

  • For Puree
  • Heat a pan and add oil in it.Add garlic whole,  ginger pieces, cashew and let them fry.
  • Add chopped onion and tomato. Saute it till it turns brown.
  • Now grind the sauteed mix to make a puree.
  • For Gravy
  • Add oil in a heated pan.Add pieces of paneer. Fry them till gets soft. Remove them afterward.
  • Add Kasuri methi and onion. Mix well and fry till it gets brown.
  • Add capsicum and fry for 30 to 40 seconds on low flame, so as to not burn it.
  • Add coriander-cumin powder, turmeric powder, red chili powder, garam masala powder, and salt. Mix everything properly.
  • Add puree and stir it. Now add paneer and mix.
  • Add water and allow it to cook for 1 minute.
  • Add lemon juice and sprinkle chopped coriander. Your dish is ready to serve.
