Mutton Kadai Recipe – Bakra Eid Special

Mutton Kadai is a Mughlai curry made with tomatoes and aromatic Indian spices. The hot, spicy and tangy taste will surely make this one of your favorite mutton curries.

Usually, all Kadai recipes are made using onion, but this one is not. A small twist to your regular Kadai recipes. The roasted cumin, red chili, and coriander powder added at the last make it totally different from other curries.

Ingredients of Mutton Kadai

  • Edible Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Ginger Juliennes - 1/2 tbsp
  • Garlic Paste - 1/2 tbsp
  • Ginger Paste - 1/3 tbsp
  • Mutton Cubes - 750 gm
  • Whole Cumin Seeds - 1 tbsp
  • Cinnamon Sticks - 1-2 pcs
  • Cloves - 4-5 pcs
  • Black Pepper - 8-10 pcs
  • Dry Red Chili - 2 pcs
  • Red Chili Powder - 1 tbsp
  • Salt - to Taste
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tbsp
  • Tomatoes - 5-6 pcs (Chopped)
  • Roasted cumin, red chili, and coriander powder mix - 1 tbsp
  • Lemon Juice - 1 tbsp

Steps for Mutton Kadai

  • Take a pressure cooker. Add edible oil, ginger juliennes, garlic paste, ginger paste and mutton cubes. Mix it well.
  • Now add whole cumin seeds, cinnamon sticks, cloves, black peppercorns, and dry red chilies. Cook for 2-4 minutes.
  • Add red chili powder, salt to taste and turmeric powder. Mix it well and cook for 2 minutes. Now add chopped tomatoes and mix it well. Close cook for around 20 minutes or until mutton is tender.
  • Open the cooker and add roasted cumin, red chili, and coriander powder mix and lemon juice to give it a tangy taste. Mix it well and cook for 5 minutes until oil floats.
  • Your Tangy and spicy Mutton Kadai is ready to serve.
