Khajoor Laddu | Khajur Ladoo | Dates Laddu

Dates Laddu or Khajoor Laddu is a very healthy sweet Indian snack recipe. A whole lot of dry fruits is included to prepare this dish. These laddus are a powerhouse of nutrition on their own and are super healthy.

Laddus are food that everyone enjoys, especially children. No matter how many times you warn them, kids can barely keep their hands off of it.

It is also a special inclusion in celebrations and festivals. It can also be great to wrap it and present it to your friends and family on festive occasions.

Because of the dates and edible gum, your body will receive enough warmth. And those dry fruits are very healthy. Therefore, people prepare this recipe mostly in winter.

All mothers can then let their worries go and need not reprimand their kids for overeating sweets.

Normally, these are sugar-free. But we have added rock sugar to added sweetness. It will surely appease to all the sweet-toothers in the house.

There is no exact recipe to make these laddus. You can add or separate ingredients and the proportions of those ingredients as you wish. Just make sure the flavor does not change much.

Ingredients of Khajoor Laddu

  • Ghee - 1 tbsp (for dry fruits)
  • Almonds - 50 gm
  • Cashew Nuts - 50 gm
  • Watermelon seeds - 50 gm
  • Coconut Powder - 50 gm
  • Ghee - 1 tbsp (for edible gum)
  • Edible Gum - 100 gm (gundar/gond)
  • Ghee - 2 tbsp (for dates)
  • Dates - 500 gm (Seedless)
  • Dry Ginger Powder - 1 tbsp
  • Rock Powdered Sugar - 100 gm
  • Ganthoda Powder (Piparamul or Pipramul or Piparamol) - 1 tbsp
  • Ghee - 2 tbsp
  • Poppy Seeds - 1 tbsp

Steps for Khajoor Laddu

  • Take pan. Heat it then add ghee and heat it.Add cashew nuts & almonds and roast it. Empty the pan and keep them aside.
  • Now add watermelon seeds (magajtari seeds). Roast the seeds properly. Empty the pan and keep the seeds aside.
  • Add coconut powder and roast it well. Then keep aside.
  • Now add ghee and heat it. Add edible gum. Cook the edible gum till it pops and changes the shape into round balls. Empty the pan and keep them aside.
  • Add ghee in a heated pan. Add dates and roast it till it turns soft.
  • Meanwhile, your dates are being roasted grind the roasted items and rock sugar one by one to make it fine powder that would easily mix with each other.
  • Now add roasted coconut powder to the soften dates and mix it well.
  • Add all the powdered ingredients in it. Also, add dry ginger powder,  powdered rock sugar (saankar), Watermelon seeds (magajtari seeds) powder, ganthoda powder and mix everything well.
  • Add ghee to the mixture. Mix everything one final time before turning the flame off.
  • Apply a little bit of ghee on your palms so that the mixture won't stick.Take the mixture and roll it to give laddu shape.  Roll it in poppy seeds for a coating of it.
  • Store laddus in an airtight container. Eat one every morning on empty stomach. t is beneficial in digestive and joint problems.
