Egg Podimas-How to prepare Egg Podimas?

Egg podimas is a kind of scrambled egg mixed with Indian masala dish. It serves superb with any kind of rice, chapati, and sandwich items.

You can always pack a healthy lunch box for your kids or also keep it for on the go travel. This is the healthy snack or lunch you can have to get extra energy. Your kids will love the idea of eating an egg in a different way.

If you are working intensively then yes this is the perfect dish to eat during pre-workout.

There are lots of podimas versions and this is the simple and easy version. Here I used onion, tomato and some spices. If you wish you can skip the tomato too.

This tastes smooth and fluffy egg combo with the flavors of onion and pepper powder.

Tips: Don’t over toast the eggs, it will turn dry and springy.

Ingredients of Egg Podimas

  • Egg - 3-4
  • Onion (finely chopped) - 1 medium-sized
  • Tomato chopped - 1 (small)-optional
  • Green Chili - 2(chopped)
  • Turmeric powder- a pinch
  • Red chili powder - 1/4 tbsp
  • Cooking Oil -1-2 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds - 1/4 tbsp
  • Black pepper powder - 1/4 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Curry leaves
  • Coriander leaves

Steps for Egg Podimas

  • Heat oil in a medium flame. Once hot add mustard seeds when it splits,  add chopped green Chili, onion and curry leaves.
  • Add a pinch of turmeric powder and cook till the onions tunes transparent.
  • Then add red chili powder and required salt, fry continuously for 2-3 minutes.
  • Crack the eggs and pour into the pan, gently beat it and let it simmer for a minute.
  • Often stir the mix until it becomes soft chunky.
  • Finally, adds pepper powder and garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Switch off the flame and enjoy your simple and delicious homemade style egg podimas/scrambled egg.
