Desi Moong Dal – Moong Dal Recipe

Ingredients of Desi Moong Dal

  • Onion - 1 pcs (medium)
  • Moong Dal - 125 gm (Soak it for an hour)
  • Ginger Cumin Paste - 1 tsp
  • Red Chili Powder - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Tomato - 2 pcs (Medium)
  • Salt - To Taste
  • Coriander - For Garnishing
  • Edible Oil - 3 tbsp
  • Green Chili - 1 pcs

Steps for Desi Moong Dal

  • Put oil in a deep pan and heat it for around 2 minutes. Put the chopped onions in the pan and cook until they are soft.
  • Add some garlic and cumin paste and Green Chili mix it well. Cook for another 2-3 minutes.
  • Add the Red Chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Cook until you see oil separating from the mixture.
  • Add the Soaked Moong Dal. Stir it well. The moong dal should mix well with the mixture, Cook for 5 minutes.
  • Add Chopped Tomatoes to the mixture. Squeeze half lemon to it to make it chatpata. Mix it well. Add one cup of water. Stir and cover the Pan. Leave it on low heat for 10-12 minutes.
  • Your Desi Moong Dal is ready to serve. Garnish it with sliced tomatoes or fresh coriander. You can enjoy it with roti and also eat it raw.
