Coconut Rice Recipe-How To Prepare Coconut Rice

Coconut Rice Recipe is a simple and mild homemade recipe. We can prepare this with either grated coconut or coconut milk.

Both the methods and flavors are completely different and unique. I have used grated coconut with leftover rice but you can use fresh too.

I assured you in my last post, I will be sharing various methods to cook the rice recipes so keep looking for an upcoming post.

Ingredients of Coconut Rice Recipe

  • Rice - 1 cup (Boiled)
  • Coconut - 1/2 cup (grated) (fresh)
  • Onion - 1 medium (sliced)
  • Red Chili - 2-3
  • Split black Gram - 1 tbsp (urad dal)
  • Bengal gram - 1 tbsp (chana dal)
  • Cumin seeds - 1/4 tbsp
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Mustard Seeds - 1/4 tbsp
  • Water & Salt - to taste
  • Curry & Coriander leaves
  • Groundnuts - 1 tbsp (fried)
  • Papad

Steps for Coconut Rice Recipe

  • Wash and Soak the rice before 10-15 minutes to cook. Boil and keep it aside to cool. (don't overcook)
  • Heat oil with a medium flame, once hot add mustard seeds, curry leaves, red Chili, cumin seeds, urad & Bengal gram one by one.
  • Allow to fry until it turns into golden brown. Then add grated coconut and fry until it gets a nice aroma and slightly gets crispy.
  • Then add rice, required salt and blend it thoroughly. Keep the mix 2-3 minutes under a low flame. Finally, garnish with groundnuts, papad and coriander leaves Simple and easy coconut rice recipe ready to serve.
