Chilli Chicken Gravy Recipe

Succulent Indo-Chinese Chicken Chilli is one of the famous Indo-Chinese style chicken appetizers. It is a standard offering in Chinese restaurants and stalls across India. Moreover, the Indian way of making chili Chicken is a perfect balance of sweet, sour, salty, and spicy taste.

The easy-to-make chicken recipe is a perfect go-to recipe for desi-Chinese lovers.

Chili chicken can be made at home using readily available ingredients like boneless chicken, capsicum, spring onions, green chilies, ginger-garlic paste, vinegar, Chinese sauces, and cornflour.

We often make this Chinese delight. My kids and I love chili chicken very much. One can prepare it as dry or gravy. When dry, we have it as a snack, and as gravy, we have it mainly with Chinese Fried Rice or Singapuri Rice. This combination will blow your mind.

Ingredients of Chicken Chili

  • For Chicken
  • Chicken - 500 gm (Cubes) (Boneless)
  • All-Purpose Flour - 2 tbsp
  • Corn Flour - 2 tbsp
  • Egg White - 1 PC
  • Ginger-Garlic Paste - 1 tsp
  • Green Chili Paste - 1 tsp
  • Soya Sauce - 1/2 tsp
  • Vinegar - 1 tbsp
  • Salt - To Taste
  • Edible OIl - 2 Cup for Frying
  • For Gravy
  • Onion - 1 Pcs (Finely Chopped)
  • Capsicum - 1 Cup (Chopped)
  • Ginger - 1 tsp (Chopped)
  • Garlic - 1 tsp (Chopped)
  • Green Chili - 1/2 tsp (Chopped)
  • Red Chili Sauce - 1 tsp
  • Vinegar - 1/2 tsp
  • Soya Sauce - 1 tbsp
  • Tomato Ketchup - 3 tbsp
  • Spring Onion - 1/2 Cup
  • Corn Flour - 2 tsp
  • Edible Oil - 2 tbsp

Steps for Chicken Chili

  • Marinate the chicken cubes with maida, cornflour/starch, soya sauce, egg white, ginger garlic paste, green chili paste, vinegar, and salt. Mix it well and keep it aside for 30 minutes. Take oil in a pan for frying the chicken and fry the chicken cubes until crispy.
  • Heat oil in a pan and add freshly chopped ginger and garlic to it. Saute for 1 minute and add soya sauce, red chili sauce, and chopped green chili. Cook for another 2 minutes, add tomato ketchup and vinegar to it. Mix it well and add chopped onion and capsicum to it. Saute it on high flame. Be careful that the veggies don't get overcooked.
  • Add Fried Chicken to the mixture and mix it well. Your chicken chili dry is ready. Sprinkle spring onion over it and serve it.
  • If you want gravy, add two tablespoon cornflour and 1 cup of water. Cook on low flame for 10 minutes to make semi thick gravy. Serve it in a plate and sprinkle some freshly chopped Spring onion over it for garnishing.
