Surti Tomato Bhajiya – Tomato Fritters

Fritters or bhajiya is an all-time favourite snack for us Indians. This bhajiya is yet another unique version of our likable fritters.

It is unlikely to eat a dish solely containing tomato as a core ingredient. Hence this factor makes this recipe more interesting.

Tomato bhajiya is primarily made in the regions of Gujarat, especially in Surat. However, you are going to experience different eating variations of the said bhajiya as per the areas.

The juiciness of the tomato in the fritters makes it more enjoyable. These fritters are irresistible to eat.

Ingredients of Tomato Bhajiya

  • Gram Flour - 250 gm
  • Red Chili Powder - 1 tbsp
  • Coriander-Cumin Powder - 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric Powder - 1 tbsp
  • Kashmiri Red Chili Powder - 1 tbsp
  • Amchur Powder - 1 tsp
  • Salt 1 tbsp
  • Ginger-Garlic Paste - 1 tbsp
  • Tomato Sauce - 2 tbsp
  • Water - As Required (Add Gradually)
  • Tomato - 4-5 slices (Large Size)

Steps for Tomato Bhajiya

  • In a bowl, add besan, red chili powder, coriander-cumin powder, turmeric powder, Kashmiri red chili powder, amchur powder, salt, ginger-garlic paste, and tomato ketchup.Gradually add water to the mixture and make the batter.
  • Heat oil in a pan. Dip the tomato slices in the batter.
  • Deep fry them in the oil until it turns golden brown.
  • Tomato bhajiya are ready. Enjoy it with sauce.
