Spicy Potato Sabzi (Aloo Ki Sabji)

  • Skip the coconut if you don’t like that. However, it is recommended for more texture and flavours.
  • Some people add mint leaves with coriander. Add them if you want but not too much.
  • Squeeze a lemon in the sabzi for some tanginess. Or curd can be used as well. These ingredients will balance the spices as well. Don’t add too much as tomato contributes to the tang as well.

Ingredients of Spicy Potato Sabzi

  • Cooking Oil - 4 tbsp
  • Potato - 4 large size
  • Cooking Oil - 2 tbsp
  • Garlic -12-15 pcs (Whole)
  • Ginger - 1 pcs of 2 inch
  • Coriander Seeds - 1 tbsp (Whole)
  • Green Chili - 10-12 pcs (Whole)
  • Coconut - 2 tbsp (Pieces) (Dry)
  • Cooking Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Onion - 1 pcs big size (Chopped)
  • Cooking Oil - 1 small bowl
  • Cumin Seeds - 1 tbsp
  • Black Pepper - 1/2 tsp (Whole)
  • Cloves - 5 pcs (Whole)
  • Curry Leaves - 15-20 pcs
  • Tomato Puree - 1 small bowl
  • Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
  • Salt - 1 tsp
  • Fresh Coriander Paste - 1 small bowl
  • Water - 1/2 glass

Steps for Spicy Potato Sabzi

  • Heat oil in the pan. Add potato strips to the pan. Saute them for 2 minutes. See that they don't burn at the bottom. When sauteed, put off the flame and keep them aside.
  • Take a pan, add cooking oil, whole garlic, and ginger. Saute for 10-20 seconds.
  • Add whole coriander seeds, whole green chili, dry coconut pieces. Mix well and saute till coconut pieces are light brown in color.
  • Add cooking oil and mix well. Now add chopped onion and mix well. Saute till onions are light brown.
  • Now cool down the mixture and grind it.
  • Heat cooking oil in a pan. Add cumin seeds, whole black pepper, whole clove, curry leaves, and fry for 10 to 20 seconds.
  • Now add the Paste to the pan. Mix everything well.
  • Add tomato puree and mix. Cook for a minute.
  • Add turmeric powder and salt. Mix it.
  • Now add fresh coriander paste to give the whole mixture a green texture.
  • Finally, add sauteed potato strips to the green gravy. Color the potato strips with the green gravy smoothly. Make sure potato strips don't break.
  • Add water and mix well. Cover the pan and cook for two minutes keeping the flame low.
  • Spicy potato sabzi is ready to serve.
