Burmese Khowsuey Recipe

Burmese Khowsuey is famous Burmese noodle dish served with spiced coconut milk sauce (white kadhi) along with different toppings. This recipe is a delicious snack and also complete meal recipe that will give you a burst of amazing flavors. A squeeze of lemon also adds tanginess to Burmese Khowsuey.

You will be able to find this lovely snack at almost every food stall in Rander Area and also in Rander Ramazan Bazar. People from nearby villages, cities also come to taste this beautiful dish.

It is one of popular Ramadan recipe made in almost every Muslim’s house. Loved by people of all ages. We regularly make this recipe in Ramadan at our homes and apart from Ramadan once a month.

Ingredients of Burmese Khowsuey

  • Noodles - 400 gm (1 Packet)
  • Chicken - 500 gm (Boneless)
  • Ginger-Garlic Paste - 1 tbsp
  • Edible Oil - 5 tbsp
  • Red Chili Powder - 1 tbsp
  • Coconut Milk - 2 Cups
  • Onion - 1 Pcs (Small)
  • Gram Flour - 3 tbsp
  • Green Chili Paste - 1 tbsp
  • Buttermilk - 2 Cups
  • For Toppings
  • Spring Onion - 1 Cup
  • Coriander Leaves - 1 tbsp
  • Lemon - 1 Pcs
  • Potato - 1 Pcs (small) (Chopped and Fried)
  • Fried Chapati - 1 Pcs

Steps for Burmese Khowsuey

  • Take a pot and heat water with salt to the boil in it. Now add the noodles to it. Cook for about 10-15 minutes until they are perfectly done.
  • Heat oil in a small pan. Add chopped onion and then add ginger garlic paste to it. Saute it and add chicken cubes in it. Cook for 2 minutes and add red chili powder and salt. Cook until oil floats. Add 1 cup of water and cover the pan. Cook until chicken becomes tender. You can add tomato for gravy if you like.
  • TO make curry or coconut sauce - Take one tablespoon oil in a pot and put 2-3 bay leaves in it and fry for 10 secs. Add coconut milk, green chili paste, salt to it and mix it well.
  • Take a small bowl and take gram flour in it. Add water to it and mix it well to break the lumps of gram flour if any. Add this to the coconut sauce mixture and cook for 5-7 minutes. Stir continuously. Cook on low flame for 5-7 minutes for the perfect consistency. If you want thick consistency cook more.
  • Take some noodles in a bowl, add 2 big spoons of curry over it. Add some chicken mixture and squeeze lemon over it. Garnish it with fried potato cubes and spring onion over it. Your Yummy Burmese Khowsuey is ready to serve.
