A hand beater is an electrical appliance for your kitchen used for mixing, whisking, blending & kneading are some common uses of this little invention. To do these typical jobs, you get variable speed controls too. I mean low, medium & high-speed settings.
On the other hand, the size of the beater is compact. Besides, they even come in trendy colours & designs. Okay, now that’s not the only discussion. You get attachments too.
Along with the machine, you also get stainless steel hooks & beaters. Insert them at the bottom of the beater. Then, when the job is done, eject them, wash & store them with the machine. As simple as that. That’s a hand beater, folks.
The reason why hand beaters are a superior choice of both pro & home chefs is upfront. First, handheld beaters are a convenient alternative to food processors, mixers, grinders & blenders. Another critical point is the weight. Beaters are incredibly lightweight.
The motor is stacked in the upper portion, whereas steel blades are in the lower part. First, let me tell you that these blades aren’t sharp. I mean, not razor sharp like a food processor.
The biggest reason why pros & amateurs love hand beater is the ease of use. First, combine all the ingredients in a mixing bowl. Then, directly immerse the beater in it & start. If you look closely, there’s no need to transfer ingredients to separate bowls or containers. That’s what I call ease of use.
When it comes to hand beaters, you have a lot of options at your exposure. 30+ brands are selling this particular kitchen appliance on Amazon Indian alone. I have not included the offline brands selling this machine at a mall near you.
As a result, it becomes difficult to differentiate between worst & best hand beaters. So let me share my experience. I use a Philips hand beater. Surprisingly, it doesn’t heat or smell like something is burning. Nope.
Moreover, I can continuously use it for a longer time. For instance, 12-15 minutes. But, still, it doesn’t heat up.
On the contrary, low-quality hand beaters heat up quickly. They don’t even last more than 2 minutes in the mixing bowl. Additionally, you can smell plastic burning. Now that’s awful.
There are two critical parameters – the price & the warranty period. Branded hand beaters are a little expensive & fall in the range of Rs.1000-2000. On the other hand, unbranded beaters are dirt cheap. You can buy them for just Rs.300 or Rs.400.
Imagine an electronic device with a copper motor of 180-300 watts for just Rs.400. Isn’t it fishy? Don’t you think how’s that even possible? Although I know it’s a fake item still, the market is flooded with such degrading products.
I always prefer brands, especially if I am purchasing an electronic product. The reason is the manufacturer’s warranty, price, performance & durability. Moreover, it makes my life easy. However, that’s not the same with everyone else. Let me explain it to you.
Honestly, I don’t.
If a salesperson explains the intrinsic technical details of a hand beater, it all goes over my head. Therefore, let’s understand the basics first.
Watt is the power that a hand beater will use when a specific voltage is applied to it. For example, in India, the voltage is 220. Now, let me explain Watt in simple terms with an example.
Assume you have a hand beater of 800 watts and you are using it for, say, 15 minutes daily. In terms of hours, it will be 0.25 hours (15 ÷ 60 = 0.25). Hence, it consumes 200 watt-hours per day (800 x 0.25 = 200).
Now divide 200 by 1000 to convert 200 watt-hours into 0.20 kWh (200 ÷ 1000 = 0.20). If your electricity rate is Rs.5 per kWh, that means it costs Rs.1/- per day to use your hand beater (0.20 x 5 = Rs.1).
Hence, a hand beater’s total monthly electricity bill of 800 watts will be (Rs.1 x 30 = Rs.30/-).
Use the following formula to calculate the cost:
If your hand beater is 800 watts, then it is the maximum value. In short, it is a high performing hand beater with high power consumption. These types of hand beaters are suitable unless they don’t affect your monthly electricity budget.
We are talking about the warranty, not the guarantee. Reputable brands like Philips, USHA, Prestige, Inalsa, etc., offers a 1-year warranty. Although this may be true, yet the warranty covers only the motor. Yes, that’s true.
If the body parts of your hand beater break, the manufacturer won’t replace it. That’s how it works everywhere. Under those circumstances, either you purchase a new machine or fix the broken parts. There’s one more solution. Read the next section.
You might come across common questions about a hand beater before buying. That’s natural; everyone has queries. Hence, let’s answer these common questions.
There are cheap & branded electric hand beaters available in the Indian markets. We have reviewed more than 30 hand beaters and has used them for making whip creams and doughs. After using them extensively, we can say that Philips and Prestige electric hand beaters are the best ones available in India.
Making cake batter requires a lot of mixing. In that case, you need a beater with a powerful motor. My experience with Philips has been good so far. We have been using them in all our cake recipes as well. It has a 300 watts motor that is ideal for continuous usage. Go for it.
While selecting a hand beater, always go with performance. Don’t worry about technical details. Your only concern should be whether or not the machine is designed for continuous usage. It is because electric beaters heat up fast & the motor burns out.
An electric hand beater needs to run for at least 10 to 15 minutes to make whip cream. So first, check whether or not the machine motor has heating issues. Secondly, avoid sharp edge blades. Sharp edges won’t allow the cream to whip & form stiff peaks.
There are mainly dough hooks & beater accessories in there. Certain brands do provide a stand to hold the machine along with cord clips. However, accessories must not be the benchmark to purchase a hand beater. Choose the one that will serve your purpose, like whip cream, doughs.
Philips, prestige, Inalsa and Borosil are quite popular brands selling best hand beaters in India. Out of which Philips & prestige are the ones we recommended.
The durability of your hand beater depends on the usage. However, most of the beaters last three to four years. Therefore, it is advisable to check the warranty before purchase.
Higher watts doesn’t guarantee higher quality. It only means a more powerful motor, but often you don’t need a vast size motor. Under such circumstances, 350 watts is ideal in any of the beaters that you purchase.
Selecting the best hand beater depends on various factors, including your personal needs. The first thing to remember, go for a branded one. Next, check the motor capacity, the material quality of the beater body, hooks, etc. Most importantly, check the warranty period.
Hand beaters with twisted beater attachments are best to make whipping time. Besides, this isn’t an essential point though twisted attachments are good enough.
A hand beater has 5-7 speed settings starting from low to fast. However, 5-speed controls are enough to get your job done. 7 are too much, but if you get them, it is okay. It shouldn’t be the criteria to select a hand beater.
Once you are thorough with the above questions, proceed after that. Till then, continue the research. Here’s a list of the best hand mixers to buy online in India.
The work of beater is so amazing. Less noisy, not so heavy, take less time for work. I was afraid before ordering the beater but after use of this I’m so happy and satisfied.
Product did not work after 2nd usage. Sound coming and grinder broke. Wrst product. Seems repaired or refurbished.
Product is gud. I made this cake at home. It’s so fluffy just like a market cake. People can by this product without any hesitation.
It keeps getting over heated after every two-three minutes. It stopped working exactly after three uses. Guaranteed waste of money.
This blender by BMS works better than other big brand products. Value for money product. Speed control is as good as expected. Best product for beating whipped cream in just few second.
Cord length is not comfortable but we can manage. Product is light in weight and easy to handle but the body is made of poor quality plastic and therefore the product developed a crack on its first use itself.
Product is good. Quality also good. I used this for beeting egg, whipping cream, mixing cake mix.
It’s a waste of money. Speed is very slow and stick are small cannot whip 2 eggs.
Was looking for a long time to get a proper hand mixer for making professional cakes. Found this one!😃 Really good. Using for some 3 months. So far no issues and totally satisfied!😃
Normal hand blender. It didn’t work well. Its not a 800wattage it worked normal like others.its better to buy 200 watt or150. Do not buy this product its completely waste of time and money.
It works well just as described. The detachable blades are in good condition. The product has worked well so far.
I got a defective product. The regulator is not functional. Now Amazon is not giving the return option as well.
Good quality beater.the beater is smaller then expected but the wisks was big enough
The colour was different, the product was small and after beating 1 minute it get heated.
Pretty Good & Sturdy for the price. Been using it since 9-10 days for blending iced smoothies, whipped ice-cream and yogurt in summers. Works great!
There is a burning smell, when I start to blend, don’t go for this product!! Disappointments
It is a very sturdy blender. I bought it for making cake frosting and it does the job very well..it takes hardly 3 minutes to make icing from whipping powder and that too with good stiff peaks.
Stopped working in two months time. Got gear problem as the blades stopped rotating. After-sales service is zero as they don’t have any trained service technicians available.
Easy to use, easy cleaning only looking to care is, not to run more than 4 minutes continuously.
Received a defective spoilt piece that doesn’t work and Amazon isn’t willing to replace it. Sad
The product is good mixing speed as mentioned is accurate as manageable.
The quality looked pathetic. The button on top is just for the namesake. W can’t even judge whether it is at 1 or 2 or 3 speed.
The product looks durable and long-lasting must buy.
Parts missing & the product is damaged. Very disappointed.
Nice experience, good product.
The Hand Mixer Beater is not working at all, indicator lamp is glowing motor is not working.
HORRIBLE PRODUCT.
A very handy and sturdy food mixer, which is easy to use and gets the work done in no time.
It’s broken into pieces after my third use today, came out from all its joints within minutes of use
For the price I paid it’s a GREAT DEAL.
The package says 260w, which is totally false. Its actual power is 180w. I don’t recommend this.
The cheapest and efficient hand blender for me.
The product smells like burning plastic after using the beater for more than 2 minutes. It heats too much.
Good product, easy use, no problem at all, worth the money.
Not working on speed number 1, 2 & 3. It’s giving noise badly like something rubbing.
